    My Library at LibraryThing.com

MizBooks introduced me to Library Thing last month. I have long shunned the idea of using any sort of web-based site or software program designed to help me catolog my personal library. My simple excel spreadsheet listing all of the TBR books I own was enough for me. Somehow though, I let her talk me into giving Library Thing a try. It helped that my husband even seemed enthusiastic about the prospect. This would be the excuse I needed to finally catalog all the books one, the other or both of us have read as well.

I have to say that going through the majority of the books in the house was a very worthwhile experience. There were only a couple of books that I turned to my husband and asked, "Is this yours?" And when he'd reply in the negative, I'd shrug, not remembering them as being mine either. What was most fun was going through my TBR books (and finding more TBR books among my husband's books). It was like visiting a bookstore and browsing the shelves at my leisure. Obviously most of my TBR books would not be TBR books if I did not want to read them, however, as I went through each one, my desire to read each of them was renewed and in some cases intensified. There is no way under the sun or moon I could read all of the books this next year, but perhaps if I can hold onto that feeling, I will at least be able to carry out my annual goal of buying less and reading more of the books I already own.

Now that I've got the majority of the books logged, I can concentrate on tagging and adding details. If you're curious, please check out My Library at LibraryThing.com.

You have a lot of great books listed there! I got some great suggestions. I would like to recommend to you to read the book Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoria Laurie and the Dead-End Jobs by Elaine Viets. They are both great and I am reading the second Psychic Eye book. Hope you enjoy them!

Thank you, Kristie. I'm so glad you went to take a look.

I was actually thinking as I was entering the books how neat it would be if people would make recommendations of books to read from those I already own. I'm pretty sure I'll be busy with all the upcoming reading challenges, but Ms. Laurie and Ms. Viets might be great fillers when I need something light in between the heavier books. Thanks!

Ah, you got pulled into the addiction that is LibraryThing, too? I put you on my watch list. I'm there as (surprise!) aarti.

As for my Year in Review- thanks so much! I like doing it that way, too, as opposed to just a list of the best books. Because books that are consistently fun and amusing but aren't *mind-blowing* still deserve accolades :-) And it's fun to point out deserving characters, instead of only the whole book, I think. I really enjoy doing it that way! I look forward to seeing yours, too- I'll be keeping an eye out!

They are definitely light, fast reads that can be read fast and don't require a lot of focus and thinking! I think that you will enjoy them for a break.

I will be going through your LibraryThing more thourghly and picking my own selections!

You can't help but become addicted to Library Thing once you start. However, I am so glad to see that I'm not the only one with a TBR list that's miles long. Good luck with the new year and your book goals!!!! We have a lot of similiar books in our catalogs so I'm excited to see what you think of certain ones :)
